Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) stands atop Corcovado Mountain in Parque Nacional da Tijuca. This art-deco Jesus was completed in 1931 and is 98ft tall and 92ft from finger tips to finger tips. As is recommended, we tried to buy tickets online for the cog train to the top but the site wasn’t working for us. We decided to go ahead and take our chances with the lines and hailed ourselves a taxi. Upon arrival we were happy to see that the line was actually super short. Unfortunately, we discovered the reason; the next train was in two hours. Sigh! We milled about wondering what to do. Should we just go home and try another day? We saw some guys promoting a mini-bus option. It was a few reais more than the train and the ride probably less scenic but, as you can see, we decided to go. Fabulous views!!!!!
