On the first Saturday of every month, Rua do Lavradio in Lapa becomes an open-air market with antiques, arts and crafts, and live music. Last Saturday my husband and I left the kids at home (homework) and took the metro to Cinelândia in Centro; from there it was an easy walk to the feira. Lapa is an eclectic, bohemian, slightly gritty neighborhood with a fun vibe. It was an atypically HOT!!! spring day so after poking around the booths and shops we sat in the shade and enjoyed cold drinks and lunch at Scenarium. There we met an elderly gentleman who complained about the weather, talked about how much he enjoyed visiting California, and gave us some tips on places to visit here in Brazil. He was hiding out in the shade while his wife shopped 🙂 All and all, Feira do Rio Antigo was a very enjoyable outing; we’ll definitely bring the kids next time.
