Parade of Champions Rio Sambadrome 2016

This past Saturday, we took our daughter, her friend, and two of our friends visiting from California to Rio’s Sambadrome Marquês de Sapucaí for the Parade of Champions.

The costumes, dancers, drum lines, and floats were amazing! (I particularly liked the float where the dinosaurs ate the people and thought the Jack Black a bit creepy) The parade began just after 9:00pm and the festivities were still going strong when we left exhausted at 3:30am. Brazilians know how to party!

Each Samba School had its own theme song that played in a continuous loop throughout their parade performance. I chose Portela’s song No voo da águia, uma viagem sem fim… (The eagle’s flight, an endless journey) for my video-photo mash.

🙂 Here’s 6 hours in 4 minutes.
